If We Knew What We Needed We Would Have Healed By Now

silly faceWhen we go for counselling we talk about our problems and the counsellor mirrors us and feeds back what we have said. The problem is we can talk all we like but unless we are work energetically we will go round in circles. And our counsellor will follow us!

The counsellor can reframe but they can only reframe from what the client has said using their logical brain. The client is not working energetically and so it is as if they are not looking up for inspiration but to their own logical brain. The counsellor has little to go on until he or she knows how to work energetically.

If we knew what we needed we would have healed by now. Yet, after many years and many hours of thinking about our issue we remain none the wiser. We heal by putting our faith in something bigger than ourselves.

So, perhaps the first step to healing is to acknowledge that we can’t help ourselves and more importantly, it’s no point in logically talking about what we need because in the long term we will be back to square one.

When we say how we feel and work energetically, we are somehow elevated to the healing state. We trust that something bigger is going to do the healing for us. This is the true meaning of ‘coming from our hearts’. We allow the universe to do the healing not our (or someone else’s) logical brain. This is scary for many of us because we have to give up control.

It’s equally scary for many therapists because they have to give up their control also. Some therapists are trained to lead the client. However, the reverse should be true. A therapist is there to help the client tell the universe how they feel and what they want healing for, then step out of the triangle to allow the universe to do its job. Neither client nor therapist need rack their brains to come up with the answers.

When we sit and talk about our problems we may get an initial feeling of euphoria that we have at last got something off our chest. We usually talk using our logical brain and this squeezes the issue too tightly. If we don’t allow ourselves to trust we eventually keep working on and anchoring our own fears.

Letting go of an issue is like peeling an onion. We release one layer at a time. Working energetically we won’t have to dwell on the issue until our next session. There is nothing to dwell on.

We release a layer, feel lighter then move on. The healing process, if done in accordance with the laws of the universe is simple. It should avoid the logical mind and follow the heart.

The client should feel a responsibility towards their own healing and work on their chosen issue every day until it’s gone. This, once again, can be a very difficult process for both therapist and client. The therapist may not offer the client work to do on themselves at home because they feel the client isn’t ‘qualified’ to do so. This, in turn, can make the client too dependent on the therapist.
